Gymnastics Fiction

Last Year, Stacey and Trish had each other in the Wednesday adult class, as they were the only ones consistently present. They really got into learning the level compulsory routines, and started out with the level one floor; and I think went up to level 3, which they showed off at Spring Fling in May. During their floor routine, they went at the same time along with a couple of the Academy-level kids. After their performance, they kind of shoved past the kids to high-five each other. They were totally into it. Pretty good for a couple of people who had never done gymnastics before, and who have shoulders stiffer than mine.

Kipping in the New Year

To fill the team ranks, we moved a crop of newbies up at the end of summer to level five team. None of them have their kips yet. Who would have thought there could be so much drama in learning a kip? Kathryn's only one out of about four of them who could have been the first out of the batch to get her kip first. She and Addison were the only noobs present during the holiday season. And on July 4th, last Thursday, she became the first to at least do a run-up kip on the strap bar. She ended up doing several more that day. Good for you, Kathryn!

Addie, meanwhile, was tempted with the cookie-bribe. She tried so hard for that cookie. Better luck this next week, Addison. MMMM.....Cookie!

Don't ask "Why the Woodie Guthrie/Bruce Springsteen music to this video?". There is no logic at work here (not exactly a selection of "kipping songs" out there to choose from....);

it just is...
